Metals and wire

What is Silver-Filled wire?

The Silver-Filled wire used in Stone and Spectra jewellery is a precious metal alloy made of 99% Fine Silver (Silver with a higher purity than Sterling Silver), which has been bonded over a Copper core for strength and flexibility.

There's a 100 times more Silver in Silver-Filled wire than silver plated wire, it's superior, luxurious and perfect for intricate designs.

Silver-Filled wire can be treated like any other Silver jewellery - take care of it with a silver jewellery cleaning cloth and follow the care guide that came with it. Or read the jewellery care guide here.

Clasps, charms and silver beads

All of the clasps, charms and silver beads in Stone and Spectra jewellery are 925 Sterling Silver (92.5% purity) unless stated otherwise in the product description.

Beading wire

The beading wires used in some necklaces and bracelet designs are made from high-quality, nickel-free alloys and are coated in nylon for strength and durability.

Is Stone and Spectra jewellery nickel free?

All metals selected for Stone and Spectra pieces are nickel-free and adhere to the EU Nickel Directive.

Cords and elastics

Satin pendant cords

Stone and Spectra cords are made from a high-quality nylon satin cord and finished with Sterling Silver rings, clasps and finishings. Some of my designs also included a hand-stamped Sterling Silver Stone and Spectra charm.

Elastic / stretch bracelets

Stone and Spectra stretch bracelets are made with strong and long-lasting elastics. With all stretch bracelets, they will give a little with wear. Follow the jewellery care guide to keep your bracelet looking its best.

Crystals

Natural crystals

Sometimes a natural crystal may have been enhanced in a lab. For example, Aura Quartz involves bonding precious metals such as Gold, Platinum and Titanium to the surface of the crystal to create a rainbow lustre. Another example is Agate, which is available in many vivid colours - this is almost always colour treated to achieve these vibrant options. If a crystal has been enhanced, you'll find this noted in the product description.

Lab made / man made crystals

These beauties are a creation of science and alchemy!

Some Stone and Spectra designs use lab-made crystals, chosen purely for their stunning colours and effects. Lab-made crystals are sometimes hybrids of natural crystal material and synthetic material, and sometimes they are purely synthetic. Some are modern inventions and some have such a long history they often are mistaken for natural crystals.

No matter what, if Earth didn't create it, I’ll clearly say so in the product description.
